KUALA LUMPUR: PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil has confirmed that Pakatan Harapan (PH) members of parliament have not been summoned for an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara today.

Fahmi told Berita Harian that PKR MPs did not receive an invitation from the palace to prove their statutory declarations (SD) in support of a new prime minister candidate.

"No invitation. You have to ask Istana (Negara) on this," he said.

After Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin resigned as prime minister on Monday, the country's political players have been gathering support for their choice of the next prime minister.

So far, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal have been named as potential prime ministerial candidates.

Today, 114 MPs have been summoned to the palace, namely from Umno, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, and their allies.

With Ismail Sabri being part of the 114 MPs meeting the King today, speculation is rife that the Bera MP will most likely be appointed as prime minister soon should the monarch be satisfied with a razor-thin majority of three MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.
