BACHOK: The two winners of the national Teachers Day awards this year have attributed their success to the Education Ministry's efforts in elevating the teaching profession.

The two were Datuk Dr Adli Badiozaman Tuah and Roslan Yatim, who won the Tokoh Kepimpinan Pendidikan Kebangsaan 2022 and Anugerah Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan 2022 awards, respectively.

In thanking the ministry, especially Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, Dr Adli said he was blessed with the recognition.

"I retired from the Education Ministry in 2017, but since then, I have been involved in various education activities as my passion for teaching is still strong. 

"I decided to continue contributing my services to the people as I believe that the important and valuable knowledge I gained from the ministry for many years will be useful to others.

"Therefore, I choose to continue contributing my services to the Sarawak government as well as the community," said the 71-year-old father of two.

Dr Adli, who is from Kuching, said he was currently working at Sarawak Islamic Council Education Service Bureau.

Roslan said he retired as headmaster of SK Sena in Perlis six years ago.

"I did not expect to receive the Anugerah Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan 2022 as I believed there are many others who are far capable than me.

"For me, without the guidance of my superiors and also the ministry, I would not be at this level. My colleagues, as well as my family and other teachers, have been supporting me all this while.

"Although I have retired, I will ensure that my passion for the profession will not end. I will grab whatever opportunity I can get so that I can share my knowledge with others." said the 65-year-old who hails from Kuala Perlis.

The two received their awards from Radzi at the launching of the 51th National Teachers Day celebration at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan here yesterday.
