PETALING JAYA: After debating Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 12, former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak now wants to take on DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang.

Najib said he was compelled to challenge Lim, as the Iskandar Puteri MP repeatedly mentioned his name in press statements.

"Apparently, he has retired, but he picks on me every day and keeps saying Malaysia is about to become a failed state.

"I debated Anwar the other day in Bahasa Malaysia, but for uncle, I offer to debate you in English," added the Pekan MP.

Najib said if the debate is on, he will ask Lim to address the various controversies concerning DAP and his allegations that Malaysia is set to become a failed state.

"From the beginning of your political career 60 years ago, you have repeatedly mentioned that Malaysia will go bankrupt. But the country isn't bankrupt yet," he said in a Facebook post.

In a statement on Friday (May 20), Lim denied promoting violence when comparing Malaysia and Sri Lanka in his previous press statements.

Lim said he was only saying that the country should learn from another country's experience.
