KOTA KINABALU: Aspects related to education involving Sabah and Sarawak will be included as a new agenda under the Special Council Committee of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said he would hold an official meeting on the matter with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili soon.

"I have discussed informally with him and later I will bring a team from the Sabah Education Department to give input to him. What is certain is that this matter is being considered and fine-tuned.

"Although there are more important matters in MA63, when there is direction and approval from the central government, he (Ongkili) as the chairman, had asked to expedite the implementation.

"That's why the technical committee can resolve any matter so that we can implement this as soon as possible," he said.

He said this when met by reporters after the Teacher's Awards Presentation Ceremony in conjunction with the Sabah State Teachers' Day Celebration at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here today.

Also present was Sabah Education director Tah Nia Jaman.

Mohamad also said he would provide detailed input to Ongkili on all matters needed to be included.

He also expressed hope that the matter could be resolved immediately.

"My hope is that we will be able to accelerate and implement it to accelerate the process of educational development.

"It is not only related to the development of physical education institutions but also the appointment and staffing of education officers," he said.
