Covid-19 Watch: 1,544 new cases, says Health Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,544 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (May 23), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Tuesday (May 24) that this brings the new total to 4,492,864 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 1,544, three are imported cases while 1,541 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 2,905 recoveries on Monday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 25,148.

Of the active cases, 95.5% or 24,009 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 22 people or 0.1% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.3% of active cases or 1,078 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 39 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 25 require ventilator support.
