KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has announced four new leadership appointments as it aims to build a more relevant, efficient, and diversified capital market.
The regulator has appointed Datin Azalina Adham as executive director of the newly created business group strategy and policy.
Leveraging her vast experience in the financial and capital markets, SC said Azalina would help drive its strategic direction in several critical areas, including corporate planning, risk management, and international relations, to develop the capital market further.
The SC has also appointed media and communications specialist Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid as executive director, strategic communications and chairman's office, with the primary role of sharpening the SC's engagement and communication strategy with key stakeholders.
Dr Wong Huei Ching has been promoted to the executive director of digital strategy & innovation.
Her appointment furthers the potential of digital and innovation toward shaping a capital market that is more inclusive and sustainable for businesses and investors.
In addition, the SC has appointed a new director of enforcement, Budiman Lutfi Mohamed, who will lead the SC's investigation, prosecution, and civil enforcement work.
This is in line with a long history of appointments to the SC from the Attorney General's Chambers.
SC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin said the appointment would strengthen SC's capabilities and effectiveness in promoting the market's growth.
"I am pleased to welcome the new appointments to the executive team.
"Their combined wealth of knowledge and experience, drawn from the public and private sectors, will further strengthen the SC's capabilities and effectiveness to promote market growth and integrity in a rapidly evolving environment that embraces sustainability, competition, and innovation," he said.
As announced on April 29, Yew Yee Tee and Shamsul Bahriah Shamsudin will assume their new roles as general counsel and director, intermediary and fund supervision, respectively.
