SEREMBAN: Pakatan Harapan allies are expected to conclude talks on seat distribution for the 15th General Election by Oct 1, says PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

He said the coalition’s leaders had been meeting frequently and that all strategies, including that of Pakatan’s election machinery, would be in place by Sept 30.

“PKR should complete its candidate list by mid-October at the latest. We have identified candidates in six states and will make the announcement soon,” he said when met at a Pakatan retreat held at a hotel here yesterday.

Rafizi said Pakatan parties would pick their own candidates for the seats they were given to contest.

He added that Pakatan’s coalition members PKR, Amanah, DAP and Upko would also get more seats to contest this time around.

“For example, there are 52 seats in the peninsula alone which were previously contested by Bersatu.

“These seats will be divided among PKR, Amanah and DAP this time around,” he added.

On the Malaysian Democratic Alliance Party’s (Muda) application to join Pakatan, he said the matter would be discussed at the party’s presidential council meeting.

On Sept 6, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said Muda was ready to cooperate with Pakatan in GE15.

He added that the new party was looking at contesting 15 seats.

At the retreat, Rafizi said 30 leaders each from PKR, Amanah, DAP and Upko met to discuss general election strategies.

The issue of GE15 candidates and Muda’s application to join Pakatan were not discussed, he said.

Also at the meeting was Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
