KUALA LUMPUR: The Klang Valley remains the largest contributor of new Covid-19 infections in the country.

Malaysia clocked 2,375 fresh cases on Thursday, with Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya making up half of the daily numbers. Selangor alone accounted for nearly one-third of the new cases reported yesterday.

Labuan reported the lowest number of new infections, with only four new cases detected in the island over the past 24 hours.

Up to Thursday, the country had 27,205 active cases and 20 active clusters. No new clusters had been reported since Sept 13.

On average, 10 people caught Covid-19 for every 10,000 people in the country in the past two weeks. In the same period, 17 people died due to the virus for every 10 million people in the country.

Another two fatalities due to Covid-19 were reported to Thursday. So far, the virus had claimed 36,299 lives, with brought-in-dead cases accounting for over one-fifth of the deaths.
