KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan has plans to contest in Kedah in the coming General Elections, says party vice president Datuk Junz Wong (pic).

He said although Kedah was Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS)’s stronghold and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s state origin, it did not deter Warisan from entering Kedah.

"Warisan has plans to contest in Kedah in the coming GE15,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 18) after launching the Party Warisan Kedah in Alor Setar on Saturday (Sept 17).

Wong said that Malaysia should be an inclusive Malaysia, for all Malaysians and it was the responsibility of all citizens to unite and guarantee a bright future for the future generation.

He reiterated that Warisan was a party for all races, not just for one as claimed by some

He said Warisan did not just fight for any certain race or religion, nor did it survive based on racial politics.

"Some haters have claimed that Warisan is only here to break the Chinese votes. They threw all sorts of slandering accusations against Parti Warisan purely because they cannot afford to forgo race-based politics. They embrace and survive politically based on racial politics," Wong said.

"Today is a historically remarkable day for Warisan. Warisan has proven to all Malaysians that it is here to stay, to fight for all Malaysians regardless of race and religion," he said.

He said the party’s launch in Kedah proved also that their presence was not limited to mixed-ethnicity peninsular states such as Klang Valley, Johor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Perak.

It was also applicable to the Malay-majority state, Kedah, he said.
