PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had a busy day at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) headquarters in Montreal where he met several representatives, including Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC) president Gaetano Battagliese Palladino.
"I met Gaetano and Costa Rica representative Katherin Martinez, both of whom represented the member states in the Cocesna group.
"LACAC had pledged support from all its member states for Malaysia to be re-elected in Part lll of the ICAO council and Malaysia is grateful for the support," the Transport Minister said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Oct 1).
Later, he met Nigeria Aviation Minister Senator Haei Sirika and Eswatini Public Works Minister Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe.
"I shared with them that Malaysia was happy to provide training to other member states through the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and customise training modules that suit their needs," he said.
Dr Wee also met South Africa's Deputy Transport Minister Lydia Sindisiwe Chikunga in a bilateral meeting.
"Lydia sought to collaborate with Malaysia to increase the number of vessels calling at South African ports.
"Since Malaysia has the experience in handling some of the busiest ports in the world, I concurred with the need for better working relationship in the area," added Dr Wee.
