KUALA LUMPUR: Istana Negara has denied a claim that a group of members of parliament have sent a letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to withdraw their support to the prime minister.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin confirmed the matter to Berita Harian tonight.

He described any such claim coming from MPs as being fake news, and that details being spread about such a thing were absolutely untrue.

"If they (MPs) want to withdraw their support (for the prime minister), they would need to send such a letter to the Speaker (Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun) and not Istana Negara," he said briefly in a WhatsApp message.

There were claims that a group of MPs had sent a letter to the king to withdraw their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is the Bera MP.
