THIS is my first open letter to you, Mr Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who always listens to voices on the ground. 

In your Cabinet, you need leaders who can work with you. Ideally, they must be smart, productive and intelligent like DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng. Lim had proven this when he served well in the finance ministry during the 22-month-old Pakatan Harapan (PH) government stint which was eventually toppled by the Sheraton Move defection.

Many mega projects were downsized during his time to save billions of ringgit while he continuously worked to recover our stolen 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Bhd) money internationally.

Many policies mooted by him were spoken about in the Wall Street Journal which also described him as a brilliant and talented leader of the country during his tenure.

I strongly believe that he had unfinished business during his tenure as the finance minister.

Mr PM, you should consider letting him complete his task as the custodian of the nation’s coffers for as a man of principle, he will give his best to serve as a member of your Cabinet as well as to meet expectations on the ground.

The Finance Ministry is the backbone of any country for development and progress. We are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic whereby a larger amount of money was spent on vaccination without proper account and approval.

All these messes have to be cleared by you and your Cabinet for citizens of this country who gave you the mandate to take over Putrajaya. The best choice of person to restore our economy which is currently in dire straits is none other than Lim who is capable to overcome economic adversities and various other difficult financial situations with ease.

We need the right key to open the right door and this time around, we can ill afford any failure like the last time.
