KUCHING: Travellers from outside Sarawak will have their temperature screened upon arrival at the state's airports as rt of paCovid-19 control measures.

The state disaster management committee said this decision was made after assessing the Covid-19 situation and vaccination rate in Sarawak.

It said travellers detected to have a fever or symptoms would be given a slip to take a Covid-19 test at a government or private clinic.

"A throat swab test must be done within 48 hours.

"If they test positive, they will be quarantined at their accommodation premises according to Malaysia's Covid-19 management guidelines.

"Those who test negative but show symptoms are advised to wear face masks, especially in public and crowded places," it said in a statement on Friday (Jan 13).

The committee also urged the public, especially high-risk individuals, to get vaccinated against the virus.

They can make an appointment through MySejahtera or the nearest health clinic, while high-risk individuals and senior citizens walk into government hospitals and clinics for vaccination.

In addition, the committee advised everyone to adopt a healthy and safe lifestyle to protect themselves from infection.

"Always practise TRIIS – test, report, isolate, inform, seek – and wear face masks if you are from a high-risk group or are symptomatic," it said.
