KUANTAN: Bank accounts belonging to Pahang's Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) remain active amidst reports that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have frozen Bersatu's accounts.

State Bersatu deputy chairman Mohd Yazid Mohd Yunus said operations were still normal at the Bersatu branches and divisions across Pahang.

"Everything is as usual....our accounts are active. I am not sure about others (other places) but Pahang Bersatu's account is still active.

"I can only speak for Pahang and I am not sure about the situation elsewhere," said the Lepar state assemblyman when contacted today.

Earlier, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that Bersatu's account has been frozen to allow the graft-busters to investigate funds believed to have been obtained from illegal proceeds.

Bersatu Supreme Council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Na'aman was reported saying that the accounts were frozen several days ago.
