KOTA KINABALU: The policy on Science, Technology, Innovation and Economy (STIE) at federal level should be translated to the states as well.

Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation minister (Mosti) Datuk Arthur Kurup said to make it happen, there should be support and close collaboration between the federal and state Science, Technology and Innovation (KSTI) ministry.

"Last year, Mosti implemented several programmes that gave impact to the community in Sabah especially Techlympics that had increased innovation value among youths in the state.

"Apart from that, Mosti had also organised 'Upskilling for Deep Tech and Future Skills' programmes nationwide especially from this state.

"This programme is based on increasing the workers' skill to fulfil the needs from technology-based industry," he said in a statement, adding that there were 534 participants from Sabah last year.

Meanwhile, Arthur also said that he hoped the 2023 Budget, scheduled to be tabled at the end of this month, would have allocations for programmes under Mosti.

He added those programmes would bring positive impact for the community at the grassroot level.

Arthur also paid a courtesy visit to KSTI minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Arif.
