JOHOR BARU: A total of 20 "Kafe Rahmah” will be introduced at 20 public higher learning institutions in the Klang Valley area after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, says Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister added that he had been working closely with Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin to prepare the initiative.

“The jurisdiction on the premises that prepares the food falls under the Higher Education Ministry while the menu is under us.

“So senior officers from the two ministries are currently working together to streamline the initiative so that we can launch the programme after Hari Raya Aildilfitri,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after launching the Menu Rahmah at Samballana Bistro, in Bandar Dato’ Onn, here, on Saturday (Feb 4).

The Pulai MP added that the ministry will start with 20 public universities around Kuala Lumpur before expanding it to other higher learning institutions.

Earlier, Mohamed Khaled was reported as saying that efforts are underway to serve Menu Rahmah in higher learning institutions.

He added that his ministry is currently working with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry to realise the plan.

It will especially benefit students from the B40 group.

On Jan 27, Salahuddin was reported saying that people can now enjoy lunch and dinner for RM5 per meal at nearly 15,000 food outlets nationwide through the Menu Rahmah initiative.
