KOTA KINABALU: Three Parti Warisan (Warisan) assemblymen left the party today.

Mohammad Mohamarin (Banggi), Chong Chen Bin (Tanjong Kapor) and Norazlina Arif (Kunak) decided to become independent assemblymen supporting Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor's state government.

The trio, in a joint statement, said the decision was made in the hope of continuing efforts to provide good services to the people in their respective areas.

"After taking various aspects into consideration, including the direction of the party and views of the grassroots, we hereby declare our departure from Warisan.

"With this, we choose to serve as independent assemblymen and express our support for the Sabah state government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as the Chief Minister in the hope that we can continue to serve the community we represent,"

In the statement, they also thanked and apologised to Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, friends and supporters of the party.

They also gave up all positions in the party both at the division level and the supreme council member level.

"We are of the view that the time has come for political polemics and also any action to create instability in the government to stop because it affects efforts to develop the state and its people.

"We will work with the CM and the state government to continue the positive momentum of development and increase state revenue through the direction of Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ)."

After the 16th state election in September 2020, Warisan has lost nine assemblymen.

They are Hassan A Gani Pg Amir (Sebatik), Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob (Sindumin), Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi (Segama), Datuk Peter Anthony (Melalap), Datuk Juil Nuatim (Limbahau), Rina Jainal (Kukusan) and the latest Mohammad, Norazlina and Chen Bin.
