PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 211 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (Feb 5), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 5,037,995 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's KKMNow portal reported that 209 of Sunday's new infections were locally transmitted while there were two imported cases.
The portal also reported that 272 individuals recovered from Covid-19 infections on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,990,977 since the pandemic began.
It also said that as at 11.59pm Sunday, there were 10,075 active Covid-19 infections in the country, with 9,663 individuals, or 95.6% of active cases observing home quarantine.
A total of 402 individuals, or 4% of active cases, are being treated in hospitals nationwide, while 10 patients were warded in intensive care units (ICU).
Of those in ICU, two are unventilated while eight require ventilator support.
KKMNow also reported that as at 11.59pm Sunday, Malaysia's overall ICU utilisation rate stood at 70.5% while the ICU utilisation rate was at 65.4%.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository reported that no new deaths due to Covid-19 were reported on Sunday.
The total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in Malaysia remains at 36,943 since the pandemic began.
