KUALA LUMPUR: Ramadan bazaar traders have been advised against profiteering by charging excessively for food and beverages.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said enforcement officers would be deployed to bazaars to ensure prices were displayed and set appropriately under Op Pantau.

"We need to be reasonable. We understand if there is a slight rise because traders also want to profit by selling food at the bazaar.

"But they have to know that the people are also facing hard times, so we hope traders will refrain from taking advantage, Otherwise stern action will be taken against them.

"I want enforcement officers to adopt the gentle approach by advising traders. Do not take extreme action," he said at the 99 Speed Mart Hari Raya Rahmah Sales launch at its Bukit Jalil branch here.
