KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) is studying a proposal to place Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers within the agency.

Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said such a proposal reflected the agency's commitment in maintaining integrity and transparency, as well as good management.

Asyraf said he had discussed the proposal of stationing MACC officers at the agency with Mara council member Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim.

"The proposal will be put up for discussion when the (Mara) council convenes its meeting next week. I would like to state here that such a proposal demonstrates our commitment to ensuring integrity and good management within the agency.

"Nevertheless, Mara has a bigger agenda (in its efforts to maintain integrity and transparency), but we need to lay down the foundation from now," he told reporters after attending the breaking of fast with the media, which was hosted by Mara yesterday.

Present was The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd group managing editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman.

Asyraf also gave his assurance to plug leakages and eradicate any elements of abuse of power in the agency.

"This is to ensure Mara will continue to progress and achieve excellence," he said,
