PETALING JAYA: Action will be taken against government servants who participate in illegal assemblies, warns the Health Ministry.

The ministry's integrity unit shared an infographic on its Facebook page on Saturday (April 1) saying that based on a circular by the Public Services director-general, dated June 30, 2011, civil servants are prohibited from engaging in any illegal assembly.

"The involvement of civil servants in illegal gatherings is a violation of Regulation 4(1) and 4(2), P.U.(A) 395/1993," the infographic reads.

The statement came following reports of a three-day strike involving contract doctors starting Monday (April 3).

In the infographic, the Health Ministry listed out forms of illegal assemblies that involved active involvement outside of working hours, using working hours and leaving the workplace to watch or participate in an illegal assembly and using workplace equipment such as photostat machines or printers to print and circulate notices of an illegal assembly.

“Should there be sufficient evidence proving an officer's involvement in such activities, disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993,” it added.
