KUALA LUMPUR (April 1): FGV Holdings Bhd has redesignated Datuk Shahrol Anuwar Sarman, a government appointed director on its board of directors, as the group's interim chairman, effective Saturday (April 1).
Shahrol, 49, will be in this role until the appointment of a new chairman by FGV's special shareholder, FGV said in a statement.
"The redesignation is following the expiry of tenure of appointment of its previous chairman, Datuk Dzulkifli Abd Wahab, on March 31."
According to FGV, Shahrol, who has an MBA from Cardiff University, Wales, UK, and a bachelor's degree in finance from Universiti Teknologi Mara, has vast experience in leadership roles locally and abroad.
He held various positions within the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and was the undersecretary of MOF's Strategic Investment Division from 2019 to 2022. "Currently, he is the Director of National Budget Office with the MOF," said FGV.
The group also extended its appreciation to Dzulkifli for his service and guidance as chairman of FGV from April 1, 2021 until March 31, 2023, and wished him "all the best in his future endeavours".
