BENTONG: Candidates for the upcoming Pelangai by-election will be announced tomorrow by both the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the Perikatan Nasional (PN).

BN will unveil its candidate at the Bentong Municipal Council Hall at 8.30pm, while PN has chosen to make the announcement near Kampung Bukit Gajah, Pelangai at 9pm.

Bentong Umno division acting chief Datuk Seri Mohamad Zaini Salleh said party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to launch the BN-Pakatan Harapan (PH) election machinery at Dataran Simpang Pelangai at 3pm tomorrow.

"The president will be joined by Pahang BN chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Pahang PH chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar.

"Umno vice-president and Pahang Umno liaison committee chairman Wan Rosdy will later at night announce the party's candidate at the Bentong Municipal Council Hall," he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and PN election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor are expected to attend PN's election machinery launch and party's candidate announcement tomorrow.

The Pelangai by-election nomination will be held on Sept 23, and polling day is set for Oct 7.

The Pelangai state seat fell vacant following the death of its first-term assemblyman, Datuk Seri Johari Harun, in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, on Aug 17.
