KUCHING: Sarawak's civil servants will receive a two-month bonus before the end of the year, says Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said the bonus will benefit some 28,000 state civil servants, including employees of state statutory bodies and local authorities.

"The Sarawak government greatly appreciates the contribution of state civil servants in carrying out their duties and responsibilities for the people's wellbeing," he said in his winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly on Wednesday (Nov 29).

The bonus payment will involve a total sum of RM172mil.

Abang Johari also announced a bonus of RM600 for Federal civil servants in Sarawak.

"We have not forgotten members of the Federal civil service who worked alongside us and contributed to Sarawak's socioeconomic development this year," he said.

The bonus will be paid to about 130,000 Federal civil servants, including uniform and security personnel, early next year.

It will involve a sum amounting to RM78mil.
