KUALA LUMPUR: The implementation of the progressive wage pilot project to enable workers to earn more dignified and fairer salaries will be expedited, says Steven Sim Chee Keong (pic).
The Human Resources Minister said they would collaborate closely with the Economy Ministry to ensure the success of the project and other efforts to reform the labour market.
He said the matter is among several new decisions made based on the three main thrusts in the ministry, which are strengthening welfare, improving skills and increasing worker productivity.
"We will also formulate the inaugural human resources policy as a primary guide to reinforce welfare, improve skills and enhance worker productivity while preparing the labour market.
"This is to enable the workforce to face future challenges such as digital technology advancements, the ageing population agenda, green economy, job mismatch and the need for decent work in line with the Madani economy’s framework," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 20).
In addition, Sim directed the HRD Corp to discontinue the 'skills passport' initiative as it was found to be no longer suitable and delayed for over a year.
He also announced the appointment of the National Union of Bank Employees treasurer general and Malaysian Trades Union Congress executive council member Chee Yeeh Ceeu as his special duties officer.
He said Chee is a labour movement activist with 15 years’ experience in union activities and that the move is to allow participation of workers in the policy making processes within the ministry. – Bernama

If your labor not productive, how to pay progressive wage leh ??
The better strategy is to maintain at rm 1500 to rm 2000 with no wage increases, but pay very big bonuses should productivity is high & profit are good loh!
An employee can get 24, 36, 48, 60 mths bonus loh!
This is how u encourage productivity initiatives loh!

DickyMe
So now the employers will not make noise about rising cost?
What has FMM got to say? No need for foreign workers now?
So former thambys in HR Ministry were just puppets on a string who got battered by politicians, employers and the people.
