PUTRAJAYA: The interim report on the helicopter collision will be ready in two weeks, while the full report will be ready in a month, says government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil (pic).

He said the matter was raised at the Cabinet meeting, which also informed the types of assistance to be extended to the families of the victims.

"The Defence Minister will be making several announcements on the matter," he said on Wednesday (April 24).

Two naval helicopters collided in mid-air during a rehearsal session at the naval base in Lumut, Perak on Tuesday (April 23).

10 navy personnel based in Lumut and Kota Kinabalu, were killed in the crash.

The two helicopters involved were a Eurocopter AS555SN Fennec and an Agusta-Westland AW-139, with tail numbers M502-6 and HOM M503-3, respectively.

The AW-139 crashed on the stairs at the TLDM stadium, while the Fennec helicopter crashed into the swimming pool in the sports complex.

The two aircraft had set up earlier from the Sitiawan field at 9.03am and crashed during training for a flyover for the 90th Naval Day celebration.
