TUARAN: The state government places major emphasis on educational development to ensure that Sabahans continue to get the best education.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said that if Sabahans were well educated and equipped with various skills, these would help to develop the state.

"The involvement and commitment of all parties are needed to ensure that the wellbeing of the people continues to be preserved, especially in the government's commitment to producing high-quality, skilled and competitive human capital.

"The state government will continue to ensure that the development of infrastructure and access to conducive education can be implemented through the strong cooperation of various parties that wish to contribute towards improving educational excellence in the state," he said when officiating at SKJ(C) Chen Sin's New Multipurpose Building in Tuaran here.

Hajiji said the state government viewed all citizens equally, regardless of race and religion, including in the aspect of education.

"Whether it is a Chinese or national school, the state government will continue to help ensure our children receive a complete education.

"Various state government initiatives are provided to ensure children receive a complete education, such as scholarships and loans, in addition to one-off assistance to students who are offered placements in higher education institutions.

"The state government has established the Sabah State Education Fund to help students who do not receive scholarship assistance."

Meanwhile, Hajiji said the state government also prioritised the development of technical and vocational education and training.

He added that it would be expanded throughout the state.

"The children of Sabah need to be given skills in the field of technology so they can get the same opportunities as other children in this country," he said.
