Isham Jalil: Unlike some UMNO bootlickers, I’ve been consistent in my stance never to support DAP

FURIOUS that he has been made a target of slander, former UMNO supreme council member Isham Jalil has issued a challenge to his biggest detractor - UMNO information director Datuk Lokman Nor Adam - to submit video or any evidence that he had once supported DAP as the latter has claimed.

The former UMNO information chief said despite being sacked from UMNO, he remains an “original UMNO member who doesn’t support DAP nor UMDAP (slang for UMNO befriending DAP in the unity government)”.

“My statements criticising DAP from before the 15th General Election (GE15) until after UMNO formed a joint government with PH/DAP were many till the DAP secretary-general has often chastise me during media conferences,” penned Isham on his Facebook page in response to Lokman whom he described as “hardcore UMDAP bootlicker”.

“This DAP flatterer even claimed that I only started to criticise DAP after I was no longer the UMNO information chief. This is another filthy sewage from the mouth of this bootlicker.”

Elaborating his “no DAP” stance further, Isham said a few weeks after the UMNO party election and before the six-state election in August 2023, he had expressed his disagreement with UMNO “going to the election with PH (Pakatan Harapan)/DAP” to the party’s supreme council.

“I informed that even as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) ordered UMNO to form a government with PH, His Majesty never ordered us to go to the election with PH/DAP for that’s our own choice to make,” he recalled.

“I further argued that if we ever went to the election with PH/DAP, we would lose our grassroots, eg losing 5,000 Malay voters for the sake of chasing 500 DAP votes. My guess is right. In the six-state polls, UMNO lost badly as it only won 19 seats out of 109 contested. In fact, 14 of the 19 seats came from one state, Negri Sembilan.”

The once special officer to incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak also denied that he “is crazy for positions like those UMDAP bootlickers”.

“UMDAP and these DAP sycophants have been trying to slander me by claiming that I lobbied for the position of RISDA and FELCRA chairman to which I’ve informed that I’ll not hesitate to sue,” lamented Isham who is now ‘campaigning’ for Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“Currently, UMDAP and PH are also spreading old videos of my speeches when I was at war with PN to pit me against the opposition coalition which I’m now supporting. I’ve never attacked anyone personally or resorted to slander but merely focused on policy issues and political direction.” - Sept 5, 2024
