SHAH ALAM: The MIC Annual General Meeting began on Sunday (Sept 15) morning amidst a surge of enthusiasm from members, with the venue reaching full capacity.

Delegates arrived en masse, demonstrating a renewed sense of hope and ambition for the party's future.

During his opening address, party president Tan Sri S.A Vigneswaran said that former critics were now rallying behind MIC, signalling the Indian community's growing recognition of the party's significance.

Vigneswaran said that MIC was putting into action its goals, aligning with the vision of the late president Tun S. Samy Vellu.

"Tun was more than a leader; he was a paternal figure who guided us in education and introduced us to politics," Vigneswaran said, reflecting on the influence Samy Vellu had on both him and his deputy, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

He acknowledged that while party members and delegates had elected him and Saravanan to their positions, it was Samy Vellu who truly established their political paths.
