TEMERLOH: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) has been urged to introduce a halal logo that distinguishes between food products made by Islamic and non-Islamic companies.
This was one of five motions accepted without debate at Pas' 70th Muktamar here, announced by its information chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, today.
According to Parit Pas division, which put forward the motion, such a halal logo will help Muslims in the country avoid ongoing dilemmas and doubts regarding the halal status of food products sold in Malaysia.
Another motion accepted without debate was related to Terengganu's petroleum royalty, submitted by Marang Pas division.
Additionally, a motion concerning the target of two million Pas members, proposed by Pandan Pas division, was also accepted without debate.
The same applied to a motion calling for a review of the foreign worker recruitment policy, proposed by Pontian Pas division.
There is growing concern that the increasing number of foreign workers could pose a threat, including taking away job opportunities for local citizens.
Also accepted without debate was a motion submitted by Jerlun Pas division, urging the government to revitalise Padiberas Nasional Berhad (Bernas) to become the country's leading player in the rice industry.
