KLANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said while he remains unfazed by the insults directed at him by certain parties, such remarks should be made in a constructive manner that does not bring others down.

From being labelled as an agent of the Jews and Israel to being accused of having affairs with both men and women for many years, the prime minister said he remains unperturbed by all the accusations made against him.

"The only thing they haven't accused me of is being with animals. "It means nothing if you want to insult me, but at least do it with manners and ethics. You know the laws.

"If you want to take the case further, I can (also) talk about it, but I have moved on.

"This is why I say these are vile slanders aimed at destroying someone's dignity and to shame them, (and) I do not want to continue down that path," he said during a town hall session with Westports' employees here today.

Also present were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Westport Holdings Bhd executive chairman Datuk Ruben Emir Gnanalingam Abdullah.

Anwar, who is also the finance minister, reiterated that he had no qualms about declaring his assets again if asked to do so. In a subtle jab at certain parties, he also questioned why the issue of asset declaration was being raised.

"What is the problem with declaring assets? If people suspect you of taking something that doesn't belong to you, then declare your assets.

"I have declared my assets, and if someone asks why the prime minister hasn't declared his assets, I have declared mine and have no problem doing so again.

"They act like it is torture to declare their assets, (but) I was in jail for more than 10 years. (But) I don't want to dwell on that, because I want to move on and focus on looking after the country until it becomes great again."
