SHAH ALAM: The Malaysia International Agriculture Technology Exhibition, Agri Malaysia 2024, attracted 13,000 agriculture professionals from around the world.

Held at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) in Shah Alam, Selangor, from Sept 26 to 28, this event was Malaysia's largest B2B agriculture technology exhibition.

Operating under the theme "Empowering Agriculture Technology," Agri Malaysia 2024 served as a pivotal B2B platform where diverse exhibitors engaged directly with international buyers.

This year's event featured 400 exhibitors, 550 booths, and 800 brands, drawing decision-makers, buyers, and partners from over 18 countries.

Agri Malaysia 2024 highlighted advancements in farming, cultivation, processing, and sustainability practices for farmers and growers across various sectors including agriculture commodities, fruits, vegetables, and horticulture.

The exhibition aimed to provide valuable insights and solutions to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency for all attendees.

AgriDemo offered attendees live demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies, from advanced agricultural machinery and drones to smart farming applications.

AgriTalk provided a series of free knowledge programs on themes such as Smart Agriculture, Agricultural Sustainability, Palm Oil, and Durian Farming Techniques. AgriClinic offered personalised guidance on soil and foliar testing and analysis from industry specialists.

The new Smart Farming Zone aimed to digitally empower the national agriculture sector through technologies like IoT, Big Data Analytics, AI, and DroneTech, enhancing productivity, quality, and optimising plantations.

One International Exhibition Sdn Bhd Managing Director Roger Lim said Agri Malaysia has grown into one of Southeast Asia's largest B2B agriculture trade exhibitions and the largest in Malaysia.

“This year, we saw a 25% increase in exhibitors compared to previous editions, and we expanded our space for both local and international exhibitors.

“Agri Malaysia consistently served as a leading B2B platform, bringing together planters, farmers, growers, stakeholders, technology innovators, and solution providers from sectors such as palm oil, durian, fruits, vegetables, and horticulture,” Lim added.

Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Chan Foong Hin noted that Agri Malaysia 2024 came at a crucial time for our nation’s agricultural and plantation sectors.

“This exhibition was a cornerstone in our efforts to modernise and advance agriculture in Malaysia. It fostered collaboration and innovation, shaping the future of the industry.

“Technological advancements like precision agriculture, drone monitoring, and IoT-based soil sensors were transforming the sector, improving productivity and resource efficiency.

“The integration of modern technology into our supply chain enhanced traceability, ensured transparency, and expanded our reach into global markets,” he said.

Chan also highlighted the economic importance of the plantation and commodities sectors, which contributed RM21.5bil to the national GDP in Q2 2024.

Federation of Vegetable Farmers Association president Lim Ser Kwee, Myanmar Ambassador Aung Soe Win, Deputy Director General of Agriculture Department Johari Abdullah, Federation of Malaysia Fruit Farmers Association President Datuk Lawrence Ting, and Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce Deputy Director Li Xun Fu were also present at the event.
