PUTRAJAYA: A total of 96 people who claim to be the parents of 174 children associated with GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB) are seeking to be reunited with their loved ones.

Spokesman for the group, Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, claimed that the children have been illegally detained, separated and hidden from their families for over a month.

He alleged that this is a human rights violation, specifically Articles 9 and 18 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

He also claimed that some of them were not involved with GISB teachings and were merely volunteers for its subsidiaries, reported Sinar Harian.

"Some parents and children have been unlawfully detained, exceeding the scope of the police investigation.

"Some have experienced trauma, depression and been forcibly detained.

"Children with disabilities and autism have been separated from their parents, including breastfeeding infants," he claimed during a press conference here on Sunday (Oct 13).

He questioned the treatment of those he said were not members of or unrelated to GISB.

"What is their connection to allegations of deviant teachings?

"Most of these children were not detained by the police and Social Welfare Department from places where incidents of sodomy or fraud are alleged... but from nurseries, schools, hostels, tahfiz centres and worker accommodations, even foster homes," he said.
