KUALA LUMPUR: The government is offering a rehabilitation programme for Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) members on a voluntary basis.

It is for those who need "akidah" guidance and means to carry on with their lives following recent enforcement action on the organisation.

The 90-day programme is open to all GISB members, including men, women and children of all ages.

National Security Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Raja Nurshirwan Zainal Abidin said the Madani Government is of the view that these people should not be neglected, instead they should be given guidance and full support by the government and society to return to the right teachings of Islam.

"There are three main aspects of the programme, which is rehabilitating GISB members following police enforcement and each of our steps will be based on developments in the investigations given by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

"Second, the government sees the participants as victims and not perpetrators thus this approach is in line with the principle of the Madani Government.

"The third aspect is that the NSC is entrusted to coordinate the programme as we have a central agency responsible for security matters. As a central agency, it is easier for the NSC to deploy manpower and government machineries in the rehabilitation process for the GISB members," he told a press conference on Monday (Oct 14).

Nurshirwan also saluted NSC strategic partners, who are working hard in a transparent manner in ensuring the success of the programme, which has been urged by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"I am thankful to all our strategic partners consisting of

Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Welfare Department, the police and other relevant agencies," he said.
