PETALING JAYA: Dautk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has been appointed as Bersatu secretary-general, says party president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Malay language daily Sinar Harian reported Muhyiddin as saying that the Selangor Bersatu chairman's appointment had been finalised and will be officially announced soon.

"I said this earlier and I want to reiterate that it is confirmed, I have agreed to appoint Azmin as Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional secretary-general," Muhyiddin told Sinar Harian.

It was previously reported that Azmin, who is Hulu Kelang assemblyman, had turned down the offer of the position as he wanted to concentrate on leading Selangor Perikatan to victory in the next state polls.
