Dear Praying Friends in Jesus,

The entire Bible points to Christ. And Joseph’s 4 changes of garments depict Christ’s Garments

King James Bible (Genesis 37:3)

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

This was taken away by his jealous brothers when they sold him to be a slave in Egypt

2. The garment that Pothipar’s wife took from him (Gen. 39)

¹² And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

¹³ And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,

Joseph was falsely accused and sent to prison

²⁰ And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

²¹ But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

²² And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

²³ The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.

3. The garment that the jailer gave Joseph in prison

This was taken away and changed when Pharaoh called for Joseph

¹⁴ Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

4. The garment that Pharaoh gave Joseph

⁴² And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

⁴³ And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

⁴⁴ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

Joseph well favoured by his father was betrayed and sold as a slave to Egypt

He descended down to Egypt to be a slave. And then as a slave he descended lower into prison. And from slavery & prisoner God exalted him to be the Prime Minister

²² But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be ofgood comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Today the Bible is the power of God to touch Jesus through His Righteousness which is the Garment that heals

3. The Purple Robe which the Soldiers used to mock Jesus

And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

Jesus, the Sinless Son of God which became the Son of Man was crucified & died for our sins with his earthly clothes taken away at the Cross when soldiers cast lots for it

There is a special spiritual meaning behind every act or deed God is doing in the Bible

And the first time anything is mentioned in the Bible it is the “KEY” To Unlock Its meaning later

Scrioture reveals certain nrincinles needed for the proper and faithful internretation of that book . ..£. .a ..a. ~ .J..

These principles have to be recognized as Bible students seek to properly understand the Word.

One of these principles is caned nthe law of first …mention”. It’s a principle that has received hardly any

attention in books written on hermeneutics, and one can only come to the conclusion that this

principle has falien into disuse~

What is this “Law of First …Mention” or “First …Occurrence Principle”?

The “law of first-mention” is the principle in the interpretation of Scripturewhich states that the first

mention or occurrence of a subject in Scripture establishes an unchangeable pattern, with that subject

remaining unchanged in the mind of God throughout Scripture.

Down through the years this important principle has been recognized by able commentators of the

Bible~

If/find in Scripture a principle of interpretation. which I believe ..ifconscientiously

Arthur Pink wrote in his book “Interpretation of the Scriptures”:

The law of first-mention. Very frequently this is of great help in arriving at the meaning

of a word or expression. Since there be but one Speaker throughout the entire Word, and

He knew from the beginning al) that He was going to say, He has so ordered His

utterances as to forecast. from the outset whatever was to follow ~Thus, by noting its

setting and associations, the initial occurrence of anything in the Scriptures usually

intimates to us how it subsequently ~lin be employed. In other words, the earliest

pronouncement of the Holy Spirit on a subject very frequently indicates, substantially’J

what is found in the later references thereto. This is of real assistance to the exoositor,

supplying him with a kind of key to what follows. So far as we are aware, attention was

The first prophecy recorded in Scripture supplies the key to the whole subject of

Messianic prediction, furnishing a remarkable outline and forecast of all that was to

follow ..Said the Lord God to the serpent, I1A..Ild I will put enmity between thee and the

woman, •• and- between –

thyd. seed and her- seed: – ‘” it- shall bruise.

First, it is to he noted that those \vords were not addressed to Adam and Eve, implying

that man was not the immediate party in the covenant of recovery; that it depended not

upon anything of, by, or from him,

Second, that this Divine pronouncement was made after the fall, and from this point

onvvards prophecy is always consequent upon human failure, not coming in during the

normal state of affairs, but only when ruin has begun and judgment is impending — the

Genesis 3: 15, it was revealed that all human hope was to center ill a Corning One. It

made known that the Coming One should be man, the woman’s “seed,’ and therefore of

supernatural birth. It announced that He would be the object of Satan’s enmity. It foretold

that He should be temporarily humiliated – bruised in His heel. It also proclaimed His

ultimate victory!’ for He should bruise the serpent’s head, and therefore must be more than

man. It intimated the age-long strife there would be between the two seeds: the children

of the Devil and those united unto Christ.

And the Lord said unto Cain, “What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood

crieth unto Me from the ground” (Gen. 4:10).

That is the first tune that all-important word “blood” is mentioned in the Scriptures, and

like all the initial occurrences of fundamental terms it well re- pays the most careful

attention and meditation, Profoundly important is this reference, foreshadowing as it does

some of the most essential and outstanding features of the atonement of Christ,

Abel was a shepherd (Gen ..4:2) and was hated, though without cause, by his brother (I

John 3: 12). He did not die a natural death, but met with a violent end: as the good

Shepherd “vas crucified and slain by wicked hands (/\.cts 2:23). In the light of those facts,

how deeply significant are the words “thevoice of thy brother’s blood crieth tIDtoi\1e.tt

That is the all-important hut inexpressibly blessed thing in connection with the blood of

Christ: it is vocal Godwardsl It is “the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than

that of Abel” (Heb. 12:24), for it satisfied every demand of God and procured inestimable

blessing for His people ~

The next mention of “blood” is in Genesis 9:4, where we learn that life is in the blood.

The law of first-mention opens up Scripture in a wayGod has not treasured up in any of His other

principles of Biblical interpretation. Scripture passages that are otherwise unknown to the Bible

student, present Biblical truths of utter beauty and serve as a basis to open up other passages in

Scripture.

This Law of first mention tells us that God did a very important thing after Adam fell into sin

WE ARE SAVED BECAUSE OF WHAT JESUS CHRIST HAS “DONE” FOR US

²¹ For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Once a farmer had an orphan lamb because his mother sheep has died. And it happened that another sheep got a new born  lamb that died

So the farmer wanted to let the orphaned lamb to take milk from the sheep whose lamb has died

But she refused to let him suck. The farmer knows that lamb will surely die unless he gets his milk

So he thought of an idea

He took the skin of the lamb that died and put it as a covering over the lamb

The mother sheep now smelled the smell of her dead baby lamb accepted the ophaned lamb

And he lived

SO WE ARE ONLY ACCEPTED BY ALMIGHTY GOD BECAUSE HE ACCEPTS US THROUGH HIS SON WHOSE GARMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WE ARE WEARING
