Datin Joanne has more than 30 years of experience in the asset management industry. She recently retired after 16 years as the Chief Investment Officer of Hong Leong Assurance Berhad (HLA) where she was managing more than RM20 billion of funds for both the conventional and takaful portfolios for HLA and the HLA group. She began her career as an Investment Analyst at a merchant bank in Malaysia in 1991 where she occupied various senior positions thereafter, the last being the Head of Portfolio Management from 1997 to 1999, heading the Investment department at the post of Senior Manager. She was Vice President of CIMB Securities Berhad from 1999 to 2000; Assistant Vice President, Investment of Manulife Insurance Malaysia Berhad from 2000 to 2006 and Chief Investment Officer of HLA from 2006 to 2022, the post she held prior to her retirement. She is currently a Director of Nylex (Malaysia) Berhad and Malaysian Reinsurance Berhad.
