He began his career with PETRONAS and worked in various accounting roles of increasing scope and responsibility. He also served as Senior Manager Finance & Account, and Joint Company Secretary whilst in PETRONAS Gas, a subsidiary of PETRONAS. Later, in another subsidiary, OGP Technical Services, he assumed the position of Head Finance Division, Head and Joint Company Secretary. Aside from Alam Maritim, Dato Haji Ab Wahab sits on the Board of Uzma Berhad and also as their Audit Committee Chairman.
