Dato' Mohamad Kamarudin Bin Hassan ("Dato' Mohamad") began his career with the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1979 with first posting to the Macro-economic Division of the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister's Department. In 1987, he was transferred to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) where he had served in various divisions of the Ministry. From 1992 to 1994, he was posted to the Malaysian Embassy in Washington DC as an Economic Counsellor. From January 2006 until his retirement on 31 August 2013, he was seconded to Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
