Dato Dr. Mohd Sofi Bin Osman began his career as an Engineer at Advanced Micro Devices Sdn Bhd (AMD), a company which is principally involved in providing high-performance and adaptive processor technologies, combining CPUs, graphics processing units (GPUs) and FPGAs, in 1986.
He held the position of Managing Director of AMD for Penang operations and Corporate Vice President of the group prior to his leaving in 2011.
In 2012, he joined Altera Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd (now part of Intel) [Altera] as the Vice President of Operations. His last position held in Altera was the Managing Director and Vice President of Worldwide Operations and Engineering, where he was responsible for leading the Worldwide Operations and Engineering activities. He retired from Altera in 2016.
In 2018, he joined Lumileds Malaysia Sdn Bhd [Lumileds Malaysia] as the Managing Director and Vice President for Penang operations, where he was responsible for its overall management and operations prior to his leaving in 2020.
He is currently the board member of Oppstar Berhad since June 2022 and also an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Nano Optoelectronics Research and Technology (INOR), Universiti Sains Malaysia since 2021.
