The teachers who teach science and maths in English are themselves only conversant in BM and the students themselves come through the BM medium. So naturally it is a failure. Dr. Mahathir nationalised Education to BM in early years but suddenly woke up when Malay students were poor in science and maths;hence brought in English. But the back ground is all in BM. So best method is teaching dual languages from primary schools with English for science, maths,law and economics and BM for all other subjects if we want our children to face the world competitively.Otherwise we will continue to produce ignoramus in science and maths but the rich will send their children to international schools for better education. Only the poor Malays will be impacted. This was and is the concern of Dr Mahathir.

Everything done without meritocracy and having the best qualified people to do it will be a failure. How many generations more before this concept is understood?

And the problem is PPSMI failed to meet its objective to increase the students' English proficiency skill because the teachers refused to teach the subjects in English. Yes. Refused. In at least one school I know a special teaching advisor was posted to the school to assist in the implementation of the PPSMI but the teachers refused to cooperate and the Principal just closed his eyes and said if they don't want to, I can't make them!

When did the Government ever tell us the truth.

I think all shop owners or malls, restaurants etc should be well informed and aware about the ppl with pink tags too.. Instead just checking temp and writing in books.
