As expected, we see a surge in confirmed case today.

But virus doesn't look at curve.

Delaying an explosion of curve will only invite more new cases, as rakyat was not afraid and did not exercise caution as they didn't see an explosion.

YEAH Uranium, Like During a super-downtrend, what a trader need to watch up is the trend of lowest price each day, instead of intra-day's fake "rebound".
The trend had never rebound since Feb 20th to now and it is actually trending toward south. Many had under estimate the great recession + outbreak situation that we are in, it may drag for months or even year.I read that Dow future is regulated everyday to prevent massive falls. Now S&P & Dow should has hit limit down at 4% (curve is Flat ). I think they should regulate Trading limits too. Massive Dow falls is creating Havoc to Bursa next day....care lo

PM's Movement Control Order speech in English

Tonight, I stand before you once again, to update you on the current situation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic that has caused great distress not just in Malaysia, but also throughout the world. To date, Covid-19 has spread over 135 countries.

There have been 162,711 confirmed Covid-19 cases globally. From that number, 6443 deaths have been recorded. In Malaysia, there was a sharp rise in the number of cases: 190 cases recorded yesterday and an additional 125 cases today. The total number of cases now stands at 553 cases. From that number, 511 are being treated, whereas 42 have fully recovered.

The Government takes this current trend very seriously, especially the rise of the second wave of new infections. Our priority now is to prevent the further spread of this virus within the population. The current scenario requires drastic measures to be taken to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

To that end, the Government has decided to implement a nationwide Restriction of Movement Order beginning 18th of March until 31st of March. This Order is enforced under the Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967, and encompasses the following:

1.Complete restriction of movement and assembly nationwide, including religious activities, sports, social and cultural events. To enforce this restriction, all houses of worship and business premises are to be closed, except supermarkets, public markets, sundry shops and convenience stores selling essential goods. Specifically, for Muslims, the suspension of all religious activities in mosques and Suraus, including the Friday prayers, is in line with decision of the Special Muzakarrah Committee that convened on the 15th of March 2020.

2.A complete travel restriction for all Malaysians going overseas. For Malaysians returning home, they are required to undergo health checks and voluntary self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.

3.A complete restriction of foreign visitors and tourists into Malaysia.

4.Closure of all kindergartens, public and private schools, including day schools and residential schools, international schools, Tahfiz centers and all other institutions of learning in primary, secondary and pre-university levels.

5.Closure of all public and private institutions of higher learning nationwide, including skills training institutes.

6.Closure of all government and private premises except those involved in essential services (Water, electricity, energy, telecommunications, post, transportation, irrigation, oil, gas fuel, lubricants, broadcasting, finance, banking, health, pharmacy, fire prevention, prisons, ports, airports, security, defense, cleaning, food supply & retail).

I am aware that some of you may find these measures to be extremely cumbersome as you go about your daily lives. However, these measures are necessary in combating the virus, which may still threaten the lives of our people. We have unfortunately witnessed a sharp rise in the number of cases affecting other countries in a very short time. Naturally we do not wish to see such similar developments take place in our country.

As the situation continues to worsen, we can wait no longer. Drastic measures must be taken immediately to check the spread of this virus by way of restricting public movement. This is the only way to prevent more people from being infected by this life-threatening virus.

I hope all of you can be patient as we go through this enormous challenge. Please do not panic, do not be alarmed and always remain calm. I believe that with these measures undertaken by the government, we will be able to stop the spread of this virus expeditiously.

We have seen several other countries such as China taking similar drastic measures and they have seen remarkable reduction in the number of new infections of Covid-19.

I would also like to give my assurance that the supply of food, daily necessities, and health products such as face masks are fully adequate. I have directed the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) to continuously monitor the supply situation regarding the items I mentioned, for the duration of this Order.

I ask all of you, to adhere to this Restriction of Movement Order. Indeed, it is our collective responsibility to do so, as a citizen who cares for the wellbeing of our families, our communities, and our nation. I would also like to announce that a special session of the National Security Council will be convened daily to monitor the Covid-19 situation.

I will be chairing this session and will be updating all of you, my fellow Malaysians, from time to time. Should any of you have any questions regarding this Restriction of Movement Order, you may contact the National Operation Management Center at their hotline 03-8888 2010 beginning 12 noon tomorrow.

Record sales at grocery stores as people stock up amid Covid-19 outbreak fear

KUALA LUMPUR (March 16): Selected stores in the Klang Valley saw record sales as people stocked up over the weekend after the World Health Organisation declared the outbreak a pandemic on Wednesday.

On Sunday, photos of empty shelves at Village Grocer and Tesco Stores began to go viral.

When contacted to confirm the authenticity of the photos, The Food Purveyor, which operates Village Grocer, Ben’s Independent Grocer (B.I.G) and Pasaraya OTK, confirmed the situation.

The Food Purveyor group executive director Ivan Tan told theedgemarkets.com that there appears to be panic buying.

“Yes, it is happening in every store of ours. We’re registering record sales every day since Thursday. Suppliers were also caught by surprise. We are unable to cope with the sudden surge in demand,” Tan said.

He added that the Village Grocer outlet in Bangsar Village saw a major uptick in sales as did the Mont'Kiara outlet.

As for the group’s OTK hypermarkets, the Gombak and Sentul stores are experiencing some increases, but the situation at the Puchong store is almost the same as the Village Grocer and B.I.G. outlets, according to Tan.

And what were people buying? Yes , it's toilet paper!

Other items, Tan said, that have been flying off the shelves include canned food, instant noodles, frozen food like dumplings, pasta and mushrooms. Rice, flour and eggs are also selling fast, according to him.

However, Tesco, when asked if its stores were also experiencing a jump in sales due to panic buying, said: “We would like to assure our customers that we have sufficient stocks and continue to replenish essential products in our stores so that customers are able to get what they need. We are working hard with our suppliers to maintain the supply of all key products such as food, water, toilet paper and soap.”

Meanwhile, another hypermarket operator, Econsave, said the buying spike has been up and down. “There was some strong buying on and off, especially items like toilet papers. (But) the situation is back to normal now,” said a spokesperson for the operator with over 70 stores.

Maybe this piece of news will help clear up some fog

Malaysia Rail Link, China-based CCCC set up JV to manage ECRL project

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) have agreed to form a 50:50 joint-venture (JV) company to manage, operate and maintain the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) rail network, says Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pix).

The Prime Minister said this was after the signing of Supplementary Agreement (SA) by MRL and CCCC on April 12.

“CCCC has agreed to participate in the operation and maintenance of the ECRL through a 50:50 JV, (whereby) CCCC will provide technical support and share the operational risk after the project’s completion,” he told a press conference here, today.

Mahathir said the arrangement would ease the financial burden on Malaysia, which previously was to bear the entire cost of the operation and maintenance (O&M).

“In addition, Malaysia can also leverage on CCCC’s expertise in O&M, hence improving the long-term viability of the project,” he said.

He said the government was confident that with CCCC’s involvement, it would attract and spur investment along the rail link corridor, especially from China.

Mahathir said in the original deal by the previous government there was nothing about Malaysia’s share of the construction, but under the new deal, its participation was included.

Asked if Malaysia would pay any compensation for suspending the project since July last year, the Prime Minister replied that the issue was not mentioned during the negotiation.

“We will start (the project) off as if there has been no interval between the stoppage of the previous construction, and the beginning of the new construction,” he added.

Tun M said the construction of ECRL would resume as soon as possible after the signing of SA and completed on Dec 31, 2026, and not June 30, 2024, as in the original plan.

On payment of the project, Malaysia according to him, “... will pay according to the progress of the construction.”

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today, the ECRL’s new alignment would have a total length of 640km.

“The new alignment will avoid the construction of the 17.8km-long Genting Tunnel from Bentong to Gombak. It will provide a direct link from Kuantan Port to Port Klang to serve as a land bridge between the two ports,” it said

HMM...My personal advice, AGESON is good for mid to long term if consider the period of 6months to 10yrs, short term wise, Ageson will lose some portion of its revenue unless they win some gigantic projects, there r so many under value construction counters out there , but for this counter is a hidden gem, just buy hold wait for the right time!
