GPA stopped their battery manufacturing business in late 2015 and they are only focusing on distribution of imported maintenance free batteries for now...and business is going really well. Approximately 40% of conventional cars have now changed to these batteries...and expanding..

About JV, it seems it could be something related to battery recycling with partnership..in Malaysia, lead battery recycling is saturated. Too many companies doing this to recover lead...such as Yokohama.

But, for Li-On batteries....ah ha...this is the golden goose...also in hybrid batteries, lots of rare earth materials...recovery of these materials will mean 'positive' cashflow...you agree?

Imagine...if a JV is formed with a chinese company to recover rare earths from batteries...:)

KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Investment Bank Research has maintained its “Buy” call on WCT Holdings Bhd as the construction firm continues to bag new job awards, the latest being a RM283mil sub-contract for the West Coast Expressway (WCE).

It said on Tuesday the WCE contract entails site clearance, earthworks, geotechnical works, drainage works and box culverts, among others.

The job is expected to contribute RM12.7mil in net profits to WCT by 2018.

The research house said WCT was reportedly eyeing more contracts from large scale infrastructure projects such as the Pan Borneo Highway, RAPID, Tun Razak Exchange, and Kwasa Land.

“As the award progress of these projects are picking up, WCT’s job win streak could persist into 2016. Meanwhile, actions taken to alleviate its gearing would also be positive to stock sentiment,” said Maybank Research, which adds that these are potential re-rating catalyst for WCT which it considers an undervalued stock.

The research house said that WCT’s total job wins of RM3bil to date was close to a 10-year high while also exceeding its projection of RM2bil for 2015. To date, WCT’s outstanding external order book was RM4.3 bil.

Maybank Research projected WCT’s revenues to climb upwards to near RM2bil by FY2016 as the firm’s ongoing contracts reach completion.

Maybank Research had set a target price of RM2.20 per share for WCT’s stock. It was up six sen to RM1.44 at midday.

- We maintain our HOLD recommendation on WCT Holdings with our fair value tweaked slightly upwards to RM1.55/share (from RM1.54/share) following its latest contract win. This pegs the stock at an unchanged 40% discount to its revised NAV of RM2.56/share.

- WCT announced that it has secured a subcontract for the West Coast Expressway (WCE) from IJM Corp. The group’s package involves the construction of Section 3, i.e. Shah Alam Expressway interchange to NKVE/FHR2 interchange.

- The scope of works form part of Section 3 of the main highway works that is being undertaken by IJM.

- The latter was earlier awarded the main construction works for the first phase of WCE worth an estimated RM2.8bil (Section 3, 4, 5, 8 & 9).

- This is not the first time WCT has secured subcontracting works from IJM. Both had worked together during the construction of Lekas highway.

- This, in turn, puts WCT in good stead to compete for a slice of the balance RM2.2bil worth of jobs under WCE.

- More importantly, WCT’s latest win underscores its status as a cost-competitive contractor – and this comes on the heels of a string of high profile contracts it successfully secured in recent months (e.g. TRX, RAPID and KWASA Damansara).

- WCT seems to be ending the year with a flourish. This new job pushes the group’s new contract wins to ~RM2.7bil ytd vs only RM993mil for the whole of FY14.

- We nevertheless maintain our HOLD rating for now. The spectre of rising cash flow commitments from an aggressive property investment push over the last few years have put a strain on its cash flows, in our view.

- At the same time, property earnings have remained largely subdued – particularly in Johor.

- Excluding the proposed OUG mall, in-house construction of its property investments for 2Q15 was already worth ~RM585mil. To be sure, WCT’s net gearing stood at 81% as at June 2015.

- Furthermore, the spectre of rising MGS yields makes WCT's prospects of monetizing the value of its property investments a tad more challenging moving into 2016.

- We would only turn more constructive on the stock when there are more tangible signs of an improvement in its balance sheet.

I saw that day one of the gainers with some volume..so i ask my dealer about his advice about this counter lo. He told me..if go up very fast but come down also fast because no volume..then i check the counter and so i back out liao. No buy..

next day, he told me he checked announcement..banks holding some shares for debt settlement and private placement. But price already fixed at 15 cts which is quite cheap..he say possible placement of shares to some new investors from sabah or sarawak. That's why i buy little bit to keep for 3 or 4 mths..

Hope the market decide good news for the counter lo...but one thing i notice..when people comment a lot on one stock, it goes down one. They don't comment..suddenly shoot up one..so we better not comment too much lo. ;)

I also dunno..placement only at 15 cts and now is 17 cts. Dealer ask to keep 3 mths. Nvm lah, keep and see..hope he is right. He said got potential..let the market decide :)
