What the hell is going on with the speaker

Stock

Why does the speaker issue such a letter. Is that your role, Art Harun?

And will this special treatment apply to any other ‘orang kena tuduh’ (accused)?

The whole story has changed. We are just deviating from the actual issue. This has by now attracted international attention and any action against the TV station is going to cost us even more problems. There does not seem to be a soft touch approach to the issue. Things have gone overboard now. Al Jazeera is sticking to its stand. The Australian reporters have been questioned and the Australian government is seeing into their well being.

DBP Awang Sariyan, smart alec and PBC. Six months ago if you dare openly say Teaching of Mathematics and Science in English (PPSMI) is a failure, you’d be out of job!
FYI, PPSMI is the way forward. The only failure in this case, are those ’ketuanan’ who are non confident with inferiority complexes.
Keep delaying PPSMI, we will have more youths tomorrow with calibre like the Flying car minister or just Jaguh kampong.

You are spot on. They want Malaysians to remain ignorant so that they can be led by the nose like cattle. We've only started switching to teaching the two subjects so obviously the result are not expected to be very good as not only students but teachers are also finding their way to overcome the initial weakness. Trust politicians to run our education down.

Singapore also had Covid-19; and yet PROPER procedure was adhered to . The Rule is there ; stick to the rule ! Enforce the SOP, please in ALL monies to be spent! LOCA:L Councils must be elected by the people for the people and by the people.. So, Datuk Zuraida is 100 % RIGHT! Give the vote to the people! Let the people CHOOSE the local Councillors; it is THEIR money! It is NOT free money to be freely spent as you wish. So, why are UMNO and Pas AFRAID of facing the people ? Have some DIGNITY !

Stock

In Singapore, FOUR Budgets went through Parliament for approval BEFORE the monies were spent. Did our Parliament pass the three Budgets BEFORE monies were spent ? The voices of the PEOPLE through MPs must be heard; and approval given BEFORE monies could be spent! The Covid-19 is not an excuse!

Where is your HUMILITY ? Where is your DIGNITY ? Be upfront with the rate-payers., the tax-payers. Don't use other people's money as you wish; you are ACCOUNTABLE foe every cent used. In US, CONGRESS must give approval for money to be spent! No approval, no disbursement of public funds ! In UK, BUDGETS must be approved by Parliament before monies are spent !

He who pays the piper calls the tune. You collect monies from the people you must allow the people to see HOW their monies are used! Have they no right at all ? They have not given you a BLANK cheque and allow you to spend the monies as you wish! Have some DIGNITY, please ! You talk so much about Malay Dignity; just practise it ! Have you no shame at all , UMNO and Pas ?

The Report submitted RECOMMENDED LOCaL COUNCIL Elections. That was more than 50 years ago !Why FEAR local elections, UMNO, PAs ? Afraid to lose elections? IF they are against local council elections, then I suggest that you do NOT collect rates from the People. The people have the FUNDAMENTAL right to demand that their monies collected are prudentially utilised.

Now, there is a huge hue and cry over local elections announced by the Minister for Local Council and Housing Minister. She did the RIGHT thing. During Tunku Abdul Rahman's time, a Royal Commission of Inquiry was set up , headed by Senator Datuk Athi Nahapan.

It is almost in the variation of 9:1 ! Unheard of in any democratic nation ! WHY was it not done at once to recalibrate the sizes. An ideal voter strength should be 50,000 voters in each Constituency., give and take 10 % variation. It is insane and obscene to have such wide variation. The above si just one of several Constituencies. RE-Adjustment should be done at once before the next General Election.

Act fairly , Mr. Speaker , and you will be remembered for your action The Election Commission is a heavy responsibility ; but he left to be speaker! It is sad. He could have done REFORMS for the betterment of the nation. GERRYMANDERING has become very obscene with a huge disparities in Constituencies. Just Imagine Damansara which has over 160,000 voters while Putrajaya has 18, 000 voters !

My apology for saying so ! It is also no-no to discrimination and harassment of minority groups of whatever colour. The death of George Floyd at the hands of law -enforcement Officer had caused a human wave of protests in several cities. Yes, BLACK LIVES MATTER! It is not enough to use holy words but doing just the opposite. The Speaker was known to be outspoken against se.xism. Well, the test on his criticism had been exposed in the Dewan Rakyat recently!

The Speaker must always remain firm and a no-nonsense man. He should emulate the last Speaker of Commons who was firm and fair in his actions. When a se.xist MP made a remark about the black MP, why did he immediately BOOT him out as he did to the Shah Alam MP ? The same medicine should have been applied. Se.xism is a no-no in this Age of Enlightenment; and he had failed the first test of Speakership.

Singapore is too far away la my friend. If China does encroach into Singapore waters then they would have landed in Malaysia. China has no claim to the Sunda platform. Only the South China Sea. If Singapores location is Borneo then lets see if its similar case

Can you not see what China wants to claim? They are not claimingiles of water off their shore. They are claiming waters off our shores in Sarawak. And they are 1000 miles away. Imagine India lay claim of the entire India Ocean till the andaman sea. Would you allow it?

Guan Eng: Skin colour won’t guarantee if you’re rich or poor

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng reminded one and all, in a thinly veiled criticism against former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, that ethnicity had little to do with wealth.

This came after Mahathir reportedly said in an interview with Asia Times that Chinese Malaysians had become extremely rich and “practically own all the towns in Malaysia”.

He reportedly said that such disparity in wealth was unhealthy.

In his Facebook post last night, Lim (above) said the Chinese in Malaysia were tired of such “simplistic” labelling, as there exist many Chinese who were not rich and many non-Chinese who were.

“Malaysia is not colour-coded, we are all Malaysians who live together in the towns, cities, and villages.

“Similarly, skin colour does not guarantee that you are rich or poor. This is wrong,” Lim said, although he did not name Mahathir in his statement.

He urged Malaysians not to be divided along racial lines, but instead to unite on common principles such as upholding justice, freedom, prosperity for all, as well as to fight against corruption and abuse of power.

Previously, Mahathir’s remark on this matter also drew criticism from other leaders in DAP and PKR, who accused him of perpetuating the “rich Chinese” narrative.

Among others, Semambu assemblyperson Lee Chean Chung cited the work of economist Muhammed Abdul Khalid and said that intra-ethic differences accounted for 93.71 percent of economic disparity, while inter-ethnic differences accounted for only 6.39 percent. Muhammed previously served as Mahathir’s economic advisor.

Pasir Gudang MCA wants Dr M to apologise for 'rich Chinese' remarks

JOHOR BARU: Pasir Gudang MCA members are seeking an apology from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad after he claimed that Chinese were "rich and owned all the cities in Malaysia".

Pasir Gudang MCA deputy public complaints bureau chief Ang Tun Chek said the remarks by the former prime minister could instigate disunity among the races.

"As the former prime minister and an MP, I would expect him to work towards uniting the races and not the opposite.

"It is unfair to the Chinese community that he has labeled us as rich and owners of cities in the country when, clearly, cities are not owned by any race but by their respective state governments," he said during a press conference at the Pasir Gudang MCA office here on Wednesday (July 1).

Ang said he was also disappointed that some Chinese politicians had not spoken out on the matter.

"As representatives of the people, they should voice out against such racially sensitive remarks," he said, adding that Dr Mahathir had also received many votes from the Chinese during the last general election.

"We've made a police report against his statement and we want an official apology.

"I would also like to plead with the Malaysian Chinese not to take Dr Mahathir's remarks to heart, and not harbour ill intent against any race in the country because of what he said," he added.

Earlier, The Star reported that MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had rebutted the former prime minister's claims.

He said there were enough recent reports to show that the Chinese, in all levels of income, had already declined.

“I am not sure if Dr Mahathir is pretending not to know or whether he is merely playing the racial card, ” Dr Wee had said
