UMNO is losing Malay support starting from Kajang...why, then read this as Umno bodohkan Melayu

Umno bodohkan Melayu, kata Dr Siti Mariah
K Pragalath
| March 18, 2014

Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud turut mendakwa bahawa Umno kin mengaplikasi sentimen perkauman.

Hanya 541 undi rosak direkodkan.

Malaysian ministers and officials not known for taking personal accountability

READERS’ COMMENTS: "Will any Malaysian minister or official have the chutzpah to step forward and claim personal accountability? Leadership involves the award of great power, and with great power should come great responsibilities."

The short answer is no. Never in our great land where credits are swiftly claimed and failures are denied! There have been countless road tragedies, but which transport minister has ever said sorry or taken the blame? Highland Towers may collapse, ferries may sink, buses may crash, trains may collide and no one is accountable.

So do not expect the disappearance of MH370 to result in the loss of jobs for the RMAF chief whose radar men allowed an unidentified aircraft to traverse the breadth of the peninsula; or the DCA chief who said checked-in luggage were offloaded when five people who checked but didn't take the flight when it was denied by the IGP; or the IGP for not sharing with immigration the Interpol list of stolen passports; or the immigration DG whose officers allowed two individuals with stolen passports to pass. -- Cynic

Richard H Fleming:The simple question every journalist should have asked is whether the Malaysian and Chinese governments are hiding anything from the families of the 239 souls onboard the missing jetliner.

CNN, WSJ and others be damned, but the families are entitled to any news great or small including the results of any and all ongoing investigations. If the Malaysian government thinks it can escape liability by playing coy and secretive, then it will be safe to assume that stupidity, arrogance, ignorance and naivete have entered another dimension.

Reuben Yuvaraj: Thank you! I thought what she meant with the question was pretty obvious. I don't know why there are so many people who act otherwise.

Yuen Lang Kok: Then our compatriots are really stupid not to understand what she meant by the word "protected". In any democratic country if this question is asked, it would mean you can do whatever or answer as you pleased and not being accountable for any errors made.

Ali Karim: Hazlan Zakaria, not sure why you are defending the undefendable. The question is irrelevant to the issue at hand. And if she misframed her question then it’s too bad, something least expected from a journalist.

These comments are based on the article "In defence of a fellow journo, Carrie Nooten".

Cronyism is real but The Economist’s ranking of Malaysia a surprise

Posted on 22/03/2014 - 12:29
Cecilia Jeyanthi Victor

PETALING JAYA: It is not that Malaysia has not made any effort in the fight against corruption and cronyism. The trouble is that the fight does not seem to be making any headway.

Why is the eradication of corruption and cronyism a constant struggle for Malaysia? One answer lies in the lack of political will.

So the nation is still in the doldrums on the cronyism scale as evident from a recent report in The Economist

According to The Economist Crony Capitalism Index 2014, Malaysia came in third place for cronyism and toppling its list was Hong Kong while Russia was at number two.

The UK-based Economist reported that all three countries were in the same positions since the last study in 2007 while most countries in the Southeast Asian region including Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, fared worse in 2014.

Singapore was ranked at fifth place, the Philippines at sixth, Indonesia 10th while Thailand took the 16th spot.

Former Transparency International Malaysia president Tan Sri Dr Ramon Navaratnam described Malaysia’s position as “very surprising and disappointing”.

“I did not realise we are that bad. The Economist is a reputable publication and we cannot dismiss these findings,” he told theantdaily.

“The government should seriously examine this report, find out where cronyism is taking place and take action.

“Corruption is related to cronyism which is bad. All these can be mitigated by the findings as the long-term sustainability of Malaysia’s economic development can be seriously jeopardised by cronyism and corruption,” he warned.

Navaratnam also said that “money politics” was the mother of all problems and those in power must have the political will to fight the scourge.

The Economist further reported that the uncontrolled habit of rent-seeking this century allows billionaires that are politically well connected to double their wealth and this posed a threat to the free market.

UMNO/BN takut kangkong? hahaha

"Bagaimana kata-kata kesat dilemparkan Umno.

- 23 Mac, 2014.
