NCR & Diebold are global companies. OpenSys is minute when compared to these 2 giants. As usual DYODD.

@RaveChan I have talked to the revenue guy before. They r in different biz compared to OpenSys. Revenue provides that small devices that accept your credit and debit cards. Revenue is so successful because their devices r everywhere. Revenue's biz is also very scaleable. Whenever I see CRMs from OKI (OpenSys), I aslo see NCR, Diebold, Hitachi and Fujitsu. Hitachi and Fujitsu are very diversified groups but I think OpenSys, NCR & Diebold are somewhat similar. At a glance, I m shocked that NCR & Diebold are making losses!

@DChosen2 Yes, I agree. OpenSys delivered consistent profit in the past but I m unsure about the growth needed to support current valuations in view of the changing industry (especially banking) landscape. I think 60 - 70% of its revenue is derived from the banking industry. Banks are under a lot of pressure to cut cost and reduce the number of branches. The management is well aware of this development, and they are trying to diversify. I hope they will do well. I m forever grateful to OpenSys for the opportunities!

Mr DIY buying, and Mr "OpenSys" selling. 2020 was a fantastic year! Price moved from about 30 sen to RM1.30. Now is 43 sen, about 65 sen on cum basis. Volume peaked at 150 million shares in a day. Average volume for the past 1 month is about 2 million shares. Who is smarter? Mr DIY or Mr "OpenSys"?

After 1 for 2 bonus (ex date 12/10/20), current price of 50.5 sen is still a very good price to sell. This price is equivalent to about 75 sen before bonus. Current PE is 20x, and I think is very expensive! They are trying to diversify into other biz due to limited potential in current core revenue contributors. I believe they are not getting the desired results from their new biz. With Buysolar, they are lucky if they can breakeven. This diversification should be read as diworsefication (from the word worse)!

i believe the maiden research initiation is true because on 17/8/80 OpenSys invited fund managers/analysts to a corporate update briefing. I don't expect a blowout quarter but it would likely show steady n consistent top line and bottom line growth. I know with some certainty (don't ask how I know) solar project is not yet profitable. I m hoping for some corporate M&A, main board transfer, regional expansion n tie-up to happen in the near future. CRM biz is proven! It is scaleable n they can duplicate this biz model in Asean. OpenSys is already in Thailand n Brunei. The potential is phenomenal!

My suspicion was confirmed. Last month, Chairman buying back the shares he sold earlier was indeed a smokescreen.

The potential of buySolar to OpenSys is anybody’s guess. With CRM, banks could enjoy cost savings of about 30%. With buySolar, customers could enjoy savings between 54% n 87%. Is compelling! Just imagine the potential profitability. Furthermore, this can be replicated in other countries.

Thanks equitydiary! I don't know if there is any difference between Smart Client Web and Branch of the Future (BOTF). BOTF was announced by OpenSys a few months ago.

A foreign shareholder in the name of DBS Bank Ltd has emerged as the second largest shareholder with 10.1 million shares. Another interesting shareholder with 1.4 million shares is Alma Rubber Estates Sdn Bhd. This very well established company was founded more than 50 years ago in 1963. Why are they buying into OpenSys?

Just sit back n collect dividends lah. I believe company is doing fine because they recently bought 3 parcels of office lot in Pinnacle (where current HQ is located) to house their employees n also make movements by employees between various locations more efficient.

bavos, for this to happen, we need to see more OKI CRMs in Maybank branches. At the moment, not every Maybank branch has OKI CRM, and when they have, there is only 1 miserable unit. If Maybank follows Public Bank to install 2 OKI CRMs and 2 Opensys cheque deposit machines in every branch. it will be very good for the company. All these will eventually be translated into the bottom line and then act as catalysts for re-rating of the stock. I see great potential because Maybank being the largest bank in Malaysia has many branches. After selling these machines, Opensys will continue to make money from these banks by way of maintenance and software upgrades in the future (imagine it like buying a car).

Paying extra RM3.7 million dividend this time due to bonus issue. Assuming they maintain dividend rate of 0.5 sen per share as in the past few years, the additional dividend for the year will amount to about RM7.4 million. This is very good for long term investors! Dividend yield of 3.51% pretty decent.

OpenSys has an old men's board. 1 member is 87-year old and the other 5 above 60 years. Furthermore, there is no female rep on the board. I cannot emphasise more the importance of female board representation that adds value to the company. I hope OpenSys is not a MCP company.
