Retain our OVERWEIGHT stance on the sector with our top BUYs on RHB Bank (fair value RM6.80/share), Maybank (FV RM9.90/share) and CIMB Group (FV RM5.80/share). We favour banks with expected improvement in regional performance from the gradual economic recovery and banks with undemanding valuations. The US Treasury yields have recently continued to rise with 9 members of the FOMC in favour of an earlier rate hike in 2022 in the recent Fed meeting as compared to 7 earlier. Pressure for rate hikes is expected to also spill over to emerging markets, including Malaysia.
Any increase in interest rates will be positive on banks’ interest income and margins.

@linges....all analyst do not expect impact from moratorium to be higher this year compared to last year.
Last year the dividend was 52 sen, so I am expecting this year to be higher than that, as interim was 28, I guess can expect final to be higher, which is the norm based on historical record, even last year.

Entry price at around 8 is always attractive...from it's historical chart, it seldom trades below 8, only during crisis and only for short duration, and also at 8, dividend yield will be about 7%.....I am still collecting slowly, am cautious on the volatile market....but end of the year usually are positive for market...especially blue chips due to window dressing.

Sifu tolle....I normally withdraw fund fro ASM on the beginning of the month ( cos the dividend is monthly rest)....this morning thought of getting my next round bullets...but reconsider cos of the volatility....wait n see for another few days....if the volatility persist, then may be will only top up next month.

It is good that S&P is fxxking the government, telling them mai luan luan lai.....if not, populist politicians will continue to make banks as Santa Claus.
As a long term investor, short term price fluctuations is not a concern, whether it's 7,8 or 9, long term investors don't sell, they buy for keep to collect dividend.
Now that S&P is telling fxxking politicians that banks do not belong to their fathers....our future dividend will likely be less affected.

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 23): Fitch Ratings has affirmed Malayan Banking Bhd’s (Maybank) long-term issuer default ratings (IDR) at BBB+ and its viability ratings at bbb+, with a stable outlook.
“The affirmation of Maybank's ratings reflects the strength of its stand-alone credit profile, which drives its IDR. The Viability Rating is underpinned by Maybank's market-leading franchise in Malaysia, consistent business execution and stable financial performance.
The agency said it also revised the outlook on asset quality and on earnings and profitability to stable from negative, as it sees tail risks of more severe scenarios have abated, and there is adequate headroom within the current scores to withstand the deterioration it expects from lingering economic challenges.
It added that Maybank's government-linked shareholders have also demonstrated their willingness over the years to reinvest dividends and support the bank's capitalisation, should it become necessary.

This stock is the No.1 holding of Amanah Saham Bumiputra with a fund size of 173B as at end 2020. For those who envy the high dividend their unit holders get but not eligible to buy....then just follow the fund...buy MAYBANK.
