(吉隆坡2日讯)在企业成本日益高涨之际,电子制造服务(EMS)供应商威铖(VS,6963 ,主板工业股)正寻求扩充产能,以应付为了应付庞大的订单。

根据《星报》报道,该公司新的产能将供应给现有的客户和其它潜在的客户。

消息人士披露:“我们预计数条新的生产线,将在未来12个月内投产。”

“一般上,客户会提供我们12个月的订单预估,并在3个月前确认订单,所以合约中并未设有固定数额和期限。”

据悉,威铖已斥资2800万令吉,购入一家配有8条组装线的新厂房,目前正在动工,首条组装线或将在下个月投产。同时,另一家配有12条组装线的新厂房,也定于本月完工。

业绩亮眼

此外,也探讨其它潜在的并购计划。惟知情人士指,眼下并无任何具体的计划。

大华继显研究的分析员点出,威铖的净利表现,胥视成功攫取的订单数量,公司跟客户维持良好关系十分关键,因为是按照顾客要求所制造。

“威铖希望能成为某跨国公司的供应商,负责代工制造消费品。”

分析员也指,早前公布的业绩表现亮眼,使到该股的交投情绪已转向正面。

首相敦马哈迪日前指出,英国著名发明家詹姆斯戴森表示,有意将新投资带入大马,并通过投资提升大马的工程能力水平,这项消息也提振了市场对该股的展望。

PETALING JAYA: Capacity expansion is the key mantra for any company’s sustainable operational growth, and VS Industry Bhd seems to understand the game well.

While it continues to grapple with higher business costs, the integrated electronics manufacturing services player has been ramping up its production capacity in anticipation of new orders.

A spokesperson for VS Industry told StarBiz that the company has added more production floor space and the new capacity is expected to be taken up by its existing key clients and other prospective customers.

“We expect several new assembly lines to come on stream in the next 12 months from some of our key clients,” she said.

The company has acquired a RM28mil new factory, which has the capacity of eight assembly lines. The plant is under renovation and the first assembly line will likely commence operations next month.

Meanwhile, the construction of a RM70mil new facility with a total of 12 assembly lines is slated for completion this month.

In the meantime. the company is on the lookout for potential merger and acquisition opportunities.

“However, nothing is concrete at the moment,” said the spokesperson.

Analysts said VS Industry’s prospective earnings growth relied substantially on how successful the company is in bagging new work orders to utilise its new and upcoming capacities.

“VS Industry is still hoping to be the third supplier for a multinational company to manufacture a consumer product,” UOB Kay Hian Malaysia Research said in a note.

The group’s business model thrives on long-term relationships with its key clients, and its products are manufactured based on the request from the clients.

“Typically, our clients provide us a rolling 12-month production forecast and three-month confirmed orders. We do not have to sign contracts with fixed sums and durations,” said the spokesperson.

While the company is cautiously optimistic about getting new orders, the market is a little bit more bullish about its prospects.

VS Industry’s share price, which has been on a downtrend since the start of 2018, rebounded last week on a substantially higher volume.

Analysts said sentiment on the stock had turned positive after the company reported a strong quarterly performance in the three months ended July 31.

This was boosted by reports quoting Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as saying that British billionaire Sir James Dyson had expressed his intention to bring more investments into Malaysia.

UOB Kay Hian Malaysia Research foresees the new investments to be related to the home appliances segment, adding that “the key customer had already poured in massive investments to build facilities for other segment in its home country”.

As a gauge of analyst sentiment, Bloomberg data showed that five research houses have issued a “buy” call on VS Industry, while two others have recommended a “hold”.

Dyson 不做吸塵器 要進軍高檔電動車

一個吹風機賣 3,000 元,被稱作 “家電版愛馬仕(Hermes International, RMS-FR)” 的英國 Dyson 公司,其造車之路如今又有了新的進展。

近日,Dyson 宣布將投資 1.16 億英鎊在位於英國哈拉溫頓的一座廢棄的飛機場裡,建立一個技術研發中心用於汽車測試。其 CEO 吉姆 · 洛萬(Jim Rowan)在聲明中說道:“我們的汽車團隊人數正在不斷成長,是時候開始下一階段的汽車項目了。”

據悉,Dyson 汽車部門人數目前已達 400 人,接下來還會增加 300 個汽車業務工作崗位,公司的首款電動車產品也預計於 2021 年推出。

事實上,Dyson 造車的願望從 90 年代就開始了,早在 1990 年 3 月,創辦人詹姆士 · 戴森(James Dyson)和他的技術團隊便已經開始研究氣旋過濾技術,該技術可以應用在汽車廢氣系統中捕捉細微顆粒物。不過當時的汽車企業大廠並不在意污染問題,因此也沒人肯為這項技術買單。

但詹姆士 · 戴森並沒有放棄尋找解決全球空氣污染問題的方案,於是他開始致力於研發新的電池技術,並認為電動車能夠從源頭上解決污染問題。直到 2017 年 9 月 27 日的凌晨,詹姆士 · 戴森以郵件的方式向全體員工宣布,Dyson 公司將要正式開始研發電動汽車。

固態電池或讓 Dyson 彎道超車
戴森這麼執著於跨界造車的原因,其實也不難理解。

首先,汽車電動化已經是大勢所趨。 2015 年 12 月,在巴黎氣候變化大會上,英國、法國、德國、瑞士、荷蘭、挪威、瑞典、比利時及印度共 9 個國家公開表示,將在一段時間後全面禁售燃油車,並確立了淘汰燃油車的明確時間表。

其次,Dyson 公司有一定的技術累積。相比製造傳統汽車需要大概 3 萬個組件,製造電動車只需要大概三分之一,也就是 11,000 個組件左右,顯然製造電動車的門檻要比製造傳統汽車低。

而以優質的吸塵器產品著稱的 Dyson,每年為了研發最優秀的電機馬達就會花費 3 億美元,讓馬達在性能和噪音上面達到完美平衡,該技術同樣也可以應用到汽車的製造過程中。

且 Dyson 斥資 9,000 萬美元,早在 2015 年 9 月就收購了固態電池創業公司 Sakti3。固態電池的內部沒有液體電解質,從而一勞永逸地消除了發生化學反應或過熱的風險;另外,在相同的容量下,固態電池的體積也要比傳統電池小 20% 到 30%。

固態鋰離子電池擁有目前市面上最好鋰電池兩倍的能力密度,如果用作電動車電池,會對電動車里程有很大的突破。

除此之外,Dyson 的產品一直以來都具有優良的工業設計。其設計一款吹風機,就會充分考慮電機放進手柄的粗細,吹風的流量和形狀,吹乾的效果,頭髮最終的亮澤度等等因素。如果把這種設計應用到電動車中,應該會為 Dyson 爭取到更多的男性用戶。

戴森的 20 億英鎊只是杯水車薪
但畢竟是從家電跨界到汽車,戴森作為一個 “新人” 同樣面臨著挑戰​​。

第一,燒錢是最大的難題

為了造車,Dyson 總投資 20 億英鎊(折合人民幣 178 億元),其中 10 億英鎊用於研發電動車,另外 10 億英鎊用於研發兩種電池技術。

20 億英鎊是什麼概念?以 2016 年數據為例 Dyson 當年全球營業額成長 45%,達 25 億英鎊;利潤成長 41%,達 6.31 億英鎊;在中國市場營收成長 244%,可以說 Dyson 是下了血本造車。

但這 20 億英鎊對於造電動車遠遠不夠。蔚來汽車(Nio, NIO-US)創辦人李斌就曾表示,200 億人民幣只是造車的 “入門資金”。即便是電動車領域的先驅特斯拉(Tesla, TSLA-US),如今仍處於虧損狀態。而 Dyson 的資金除去用於電動車的研發生產,還要保持家電產品的正常運轉,其面臨的資金壓力將會十分巨大。

第二,電動車門檻雖低,但量產不易

還是以特斯拉為例,儘管其在電控技術上處於領先地位,但被其寄予厚望的低階車型 Model 3 因為車身焊接的困擾,交付時間一拖再拖。直到兩個月前,特斯拉才完成了馬斯克定下的每週生產 5,000 輛 Model 3 的目標。

對於 Dyson 而言,在汽車平台、整車製造經驗、智慧互聯技術、零組件供應鍊及銷售通路方面,其經驗和技術都是缺失的,而這些方面對於電動車整車製造來說又是不可或缺,哪怕在 2017 年 1 月,Dyson 把特斯拉的的首席發言人 Ricardo Reyes 挖來當了通訊部長。

另一方面,Dyson 到目前為止都是獨立研發,並沒有與整車製造廠商合作的意圖。詹姆士 · 戴森在接受媒體採訪時也坦言道,Dyson 原型車還沒有打造,底盤也沒有現成的,一切都是從草稿開始。所以要在 2021 年上市電動車並實現量產,顯然並不是一件易事。

對了,詹姆士 · 戴森還說過一句話:“Dyson 的車可能會非常貴,取決於你捨得放棄多少自己的存款。” 所以,對比一下 3,000 元的吹風機,你應該知道要放棄多少存款了吧?

美联储一如预期升息,预计美国经济至少再成长3年

美国联邦储备局(FED/美联储)周三(26日)一如预期升息,并保持稳步收紧货币政策的计划不变,因预计美国经济至少还能再成长3年。

在标志着“宽松”货币政策时代结束的政策声明中,美联储决策者将指标隔夜贷款利率上调0.25%,至2.00-2.25%区间。

美联储仍预计今年12月再加息1次,明年加息3次,2020年加息1次。

这将把美联储的指标隔夜贷款利率推升至3.4%,较其预估的“中性”利率水准高逾0.5%。中性利率指的是既不会刺激经济,也不会限制经济的利率水准。

这种紧缩的政策立场预计将保持到2021年。

敦马英伦会见DYSON爵士成焦点

首相敦马哈迪医生昨天在英国伦敦和全球高端电器商戴森(DYSON)创办人詹姆士戴森爵士见面,成为随团访问大马传媒焦点,马哈迪见DYSON爵士,有两名上市公司老板,也会十分关注。

这两名企业家是星光资源大老板拿督颜金发,以及威城工业老板拿督马金龙,预料一旦DYSON爵士拍板提高在马来西亚的投资,两人领导的公司,将是潜在受惠公司。

根据马哈迪透露,詹姆士戴森爵士有意为马来西亚带来新的投资,并通过投资来提高马来西亚工程师的能力。

其实詹姆士在本月初已出现在马来西亚,更和本地多家报章的财经版记者会面,透露DYSON的投资计划,如今回到英国和马哈迪会面,只是进一步确定他的投资行动。

DYSON要提高投资力度,大马上市公司中,会有两家上市公司直接受惠,这两家公司就是电子服务(EMS)厂商──星光资源(SKPRESS 7155)和威城工业(VS 6963)。

目前DYSON是星光资源主要顾客,DYSON的委托生产贡献星光资源大部份营业额;威城工业也有为DYSON生产部份产品。

因此,当DYSON要提高在大马投资力度,星光资源和威城工业已拥有完善生产线和技术,是最主要候选人。

星光资源和威城工业的股价走势有点相同,最近都受到盈利滑跌困扰,需要新因素催化成长。

威城工业截至今年四月卅日第三季,净利按年下滑58.3%至2105万令吉。

星光资源截至六月卅日第一季业绩,净利按年下滑22.8%至2573万令吉,星光资源盈利连续三季滑跌。

星光资源股价RM1.32,它从年初的RM2.35高位滑跌至目前的水平,跌势惨重,它需要出色业绩推动股价,DYSON最新行动,会否为它带来好消息呢?

威城工业也从一月中的RM2.60跌至目前的RM1.52,半片江山丢失,也是等待新的利好推动股价反转上扬。
