The Company wishes to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, PBJV Group Sdn. Bhd. (“PBJV”) received a notification dated 6 April 2023 from PETRONAS that PETRONAS has decided to uplift the suspension imposed against PBJV for PBJV’s PETRONAS License, effective from 6 April 2023.

Following the upliftment, any license renewal application by PBJV are subject to assessment and consideration in accordance with the PETRONAS’s Licensing & Registration requirements.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 29): Barakah Offshore Petroleum Bhd returned to the black with a net profit of RM92.99 million in the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2021 (1Q FY2022) from a net loss of RM2.94 million in the same period last year, attributable to owners of the company.

Revenue, however, shrank to RM17.54 million from RM32.63 million previously, mainly due to fewer projects carried out during the quarter under review.

The Practice Note 17 (PN17) oil and gas company said it reported revenue of RM17.54 million generated from its pipeline and commissioning services segment in 1Q FY2022 from RM31.6 million in 1Q FY2021.

“This was due to fewer work orders received from Pan Malaysia maintenance, construction and modification works from clients during the current financial quarter,” it said.

The group said no revenue has been generated from its installation and construction services business in 1Q FY2022.

Moving forward, Barakah expressed confidence that there are still project opportunities deployed by project owners and main contractors around the Asian region.

“The group will continue pursuing opportunities, and with the group capabilities and proven track record, there is a good chance and prospect to secure the opportunities available,” it said.

Barakah added that the group would continue enhancing its operational efficiency of existing projects and cost reduction to improve profit margins thus ensuring the sustainability of its business.

“Meanwhile, the group is currently formulating a plan to regularise its financial conditions to uplift from the PN17 status,” it said.

BARAKAH Offshore Petroleum Bhd announced the Court Convened Meeting of PBJV Group Sdn Bhd’s proposed debt settlement was well received by creditors. In a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Barakah noted that PBJV creditors have in general backed the proposed debt settlement plan and now PBJV shall be making an application to the Court pursuant to Section 366(3) and (4) of the Companies Act 2016 for the Court’s approval of the approved proposed debt settlement.

Yamada, ZICO Group set up platform to bridge funding gap between Japanese investors and Asean SMEs

KUALA LUMPUR (March 26): Japanese firm Yamada Consulting Group Co Ltd and local ZICO Group have teamed up to offer a platform for advisory and consulting services aimed at bridging a funding gap between Japanese investors and Asean small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The partnership comes as more Japanese corporations are speeding up their transformation via acquisitions, amid an ageing population and slow domestic growth, while SMEs in the region urgently need alternative sources of funding, besides banks, which has been given renewed importance by the Covid-19 outbreak, it said in a statement.

The platform will offer SMEs with professional services support and access to these corporations as well as pre-initial public offering (IPO) investors, and providers of mezzanine capital and private equity, initially targeting those in the range of US$10 million and US$50 million each.
The platform will also leverage on Yamada’s expertise to provide technical, consulting and corporate restructuring services.

Meanwhile, projects will be geared towards achieving business succession and transformation for target companies and SMEs, eventually leading up to exits through IPOs or trade sales.
In addition, both sides will develop and execute corporate finance and merger and acquisition (M&A) advisory projects; identify and facilitate international buyers and sellers; create, secure and execute sell-side and buy- side mandates; and support geographic acquisition strategies of corporate finance clients.

President and chief executive officer (CEO) of YCG said the potential for more investment flows between Japan and Asean makes it more conducive for both parties to collaborate, following the Covid-19 outbreak.

“We see ZICO as a partner who shares our aspirations in seeking to build economic bridges between the two regions,” he said.

Meanwhile, ZICO managing director Chew Seng Kok said the collaboration will facilitate the provision of such services between Japanese companies and Asean businesses, especially SMEs, in obtaining investments or divesting their businesses to international investors.

Going forward, ZICO also announced separate agreements with two Malaysian sell-side advisory companies, which are Sage 3 Sdn Bhd and Anderson Corporate Restructuring Sdn Bhd.

My best advice to those who are lining up to sell at 0.03, 0.035, 0.04 is to be a real fighter / investor. Let BARAKAH fly high in pursuit of dreams.

My best advice to Nik Hamdan and his colleagues at BARAKAH is to continue the fight & we will always provide strong support and it has been proven that we trust BARAKAH. So don't undermine our trust.
