Breaking News from CNBC

Gold prices climbed higher to a record on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve officials left their benchmark interest rate unchanged near zero.

Spot gold gained 1% to $1,979.53 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures rose 0.4% to $1,953.4 per ounce, a new record close.

This follows claims by former chief minister Musa Aman who said yesterday that he had the numbers needed to form a new state government.

Musa’s convoy blocked from entering palace

Former chief minister Musa Aman’s convoy was blocked from entering the palace in Kota Kinabalu today.
KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman and his convoy were blocked from entering the state palace today.

The convoy of around 10 vehicles was stopped by police who had set up a roadblock near the Nanas roundabout along Jalan Istana at 3.50pm.

The convoy’s purpose is not known although Musa had earlier today announced that he had the majority support to form a new state government and claimed that the dissolution of the state assembly was improper.
